Convention 2010

The People First of Ohio Convention 2010 is almost here! The conference will be held at Roberts Convention Center in Wilmington, Ohio (exit 50 off Interstate 71). 123 Gano Rd. Wilmington, Ohio.


The 20, 21, 2010 and will cost $165.00 including all meals (Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast, lunch and dinner, Sunday breakfast and lunch). Everyone must pay this amount due to the cost of food, we make no money on our conference.

Hotel rooms are $100.00 for a room for 4 people. You must make your own registration with the hotel:

Registration for the conference will be mailed out in January 2010, but will be available here soon on the website by December.

We can Take Early Registration now with payment in full or you can make payments. People First Office - 740-397-6100.

Conference t-shirts will be pre-ordered on the registration form and the cost is $13.00 for all sizes. People First of Oho red t-shirts will also be available for the cost of $15.00 for all sizes.

ELECTIONS:
Please take a table to campaign from. You can leave your items in ADVOCACY ALLEY.
Rules:
Election for new board members and officers for People First State Board - register at table near registration in lobby.
YOU MUST BE A MEMBER OF A PEOPLE FIRST CHAPTER FOR 1 YEAR.
You may run only if your chapter has paid their yearly dies of $10.00. If you do not have a chapter, you can pay $1.00 to run for a position.
You must be able to attend 4 board meetings per year.
You can campaign except during speeches and sessions.
Your speech can only last 2 minutes due to the large number of open positions.
You must complete the form and have your picture taken. You will be given a hat so others will know you are running for a position.
No posters taped or pinned to walls.
If you run for OFFICER, you must have served on People First board for at least 1 year.

SESSIONS:
Guest Speaker: Bobby O'Gurek - 29 Year old web designer from Summitt Hill, Pennsylvania, will speak about assistive technology, advocacy and his struggles to advocate for himself and others. People First's own Bill Adams will perform his "sit down" comedy.

ADVOCACY 101

Survivor Island - Friday, March 19 - 8:00pm-10:00pm
Following dinner we will break up into your regions. You will as a team decide on your Survivor Island team name. You will then design your own team island flag for your People First Survivor Island search for the hidden advocacy treasure chests. You will be given advocacy clues to were you can find your regions chest. There will also be survivor advocacy games as played on the show. You will receive coins from the skeleton staff for a correct anser to their advocacy questions or caught doing a kind deed. BEWARE! here is a Nasty Pirate known only as the ADVOCACY SQUASHER that will be after your booty of gold coins that you will receive that can be cashed in for prizes so make sure you are not caught by him! The treasure hunt starts at 9:00pm on Friday and ends Saturday night before dinner.

People First Survivor Island Dance - Saturday, March 20 - 8:00pm-11:30pm
Escape to the People First Survivor Island Dance to begin at 8:00pm and ends at 11:30pm. Wear your favorite survivor island beach clothes, pirate costumes can fit our island, or surprise us!
 Best costume wins a great prize! Come and dance the night away and all your cares on your own island get away. There will be punch for free! There will be an open bar for those scallywags who have a few gold coins (your own real money) to wet your whistle. King and Queen of the Island will be announced!
