International Collaborative Art Project - What is Disability?
Join people from around the world and send in a postcard documenting your interpretation of disability. Find the template by clicking here and create a visual representation of your experiences, impressions, and perceptions. The postcards will be displayed during the 2010 VSA arts International Festival in Washington, DC. The only cost is a stamp! We're looking for people of different cultures, ethnicities, geographic locations, and abilities. You do not have to consider yourself an "artist" to participate. Deadline February 5, 2010.

Dozens Watch History as Governor Strickland Signs SB 79

About 50 People were on Hand for the ceremonial signing of Senate Bill 79, otherwise known as the "MRDD name change bill." Governor Strickland officially signed the bill July 8, 2009 but held the ceremonial signing in his office today, August 28, 2009. THe bill takes effect on October 9- 90 days after the bill was signed.

OACB Executive Director Dan Ohler says, "This is an important date in the history of Ohio. THis date ranks right up there with the formation of County Boards of MR and the emancipation of people with developmental disabilities. Many county boards have already taken steps to removed mental retardation and MR from busses, buildings, official materials and other things.
